I’m still preparing to walk a 1/2 marathon this month. I’ve been following a training plan that puts in more miles than the last time I did this. Which is good. Which is hard. Especially now that I’ve lost my walking buddy because she’s hurt her feet. (Big, big frowny face here.) It’s hard to walk alone. So I’ve been listening….
Listening to God – He’s showing me some new things in this season of my life.
Like being is better than doing.
Like He loves me despite of myself.
Like He’s capable of working in and through me if I get out of the way.
Like He is right here beside me every day.
You know, those kinds of things.
And I’ve been listening to music. My young friend L gave me a few CDs to try by Trinity Vineyard. Check them out. Really. I’ve been listening to Hymns and Prayers of the Saints. Awesome.
Saturday I listened to St. Patrick’s Breastplate about 10 times while walking. I’ve read the prayer before, probably in this book, but put to music and with this take on the lyrics, God really used it to speak to my heart.
Christ within me
Christ behind me
And Christ before me
Christ beneath me
And Christ above me
And Christ a comfort
And restore me
Christ in the hearts of all who think of me
Christ on the lips of all who speak of me
Christ in every eye that looks upon me
And Christ in every ear that hears me
Let it be
Let it be
Let it be so with me
Have Your way
Have Your way
Have Your way, I bend my knees
So, maybe right now it’s good to walk alone? Because I’m not really alone? I’m learning to be still and be quiet. Not so easy.
Blessings on the beginning of your week, bloggy friends!

Just so you know, you are in my thoughts and prayers as you prepare for the 1/2 marathon this month. All of my sweet bob friends are close to my heart and always in my prayers - even though we are thousands of miles apart this month. You inspire me. Thanks for posting. God has been instilling many of the same lessons in my heart. I have heard this before from God, but it's like a refresher course. :-) I really enjoy your blog and look forward to our next meeting. Love, Bobbie
