I mentioned in an earlier post that I was planning to do The Sketchbook Challenge this year.
So, to kick off the New Year, I scooted over to Candy's place and spent a couple of hours doodling, planning, and painting with my artsy bud. I ended up with the page above as the first page of my sketchbook.
Jill Berry chose the theme for the first month: HIGHLY PRIZED. There's so many places you could go with it! I couldn't choose one thing so I sat down last night and made a quick grid and started sketching whatever came to mind when I asked myself what I valued most. (Note that ice cream follows closely behind the Bible!) Besides ice cream and chocolate, I found myself thinking of the people and places that are most important to me.... Matt, children, friends.... home, church, town, job... And then there's the things I use to connect with people... computer, cell phone... Oh, and there's the beauty of Creation... sunshine, trees, ocean, the night sky... So much was pouring out of my mind of what I highly prize. Life is full of blessings. All I have to do is stop and think, open my eyes and be grateful.
I'll be adding The Sketchbook Challenge badge soon to my sidebar, but in the meantime, go take a look at the blog. It's quite a busy group!
