Seven on Saturday

1. Ah - the last beach trip of the summer! School starts for Mary on Tuesday...

2. I was inspired by this verse from the hymn Spirit of God, Descend Upon My Heart:

I ask no dreams,
No prophet ecstasies,
No sudden rending of the veil of clay,
No angel visitation,
No opening skies;
But take the dimness of my soul away.

3. I really want to try this recipe. What do you think? Sunday brunch?

5. At the beach with friends this weekend...chilling...eating...shopping...laughing...and yes, a little crying. We've been watching movies every night, too:

Thursday: Knowing (Excellent! Looove Nicholas Cage!)
Friday: Gran Torino (Oh-my-gosh-good!)
Saturday: Doubt (I'll let you know.) (Disturbing, but good.)

6. See my wide-legged khaki pants I got today shopping today? They're wrinkled, but you get the idea. I've been looking for some like this and found them on sale today. Goody! Still probably the most expensive pants I've ever bought, but I just loved them. Hope you don't mind, George, when you see the charge on our bank card! :-)

7. Funny:

A friend went into a local store this past week looking for a pie server. She asked the sales lady if they had any in stock. When she got a confused look, my friend began further explanation, "You know, the thing you scoop up pieces of pie or cake with and put on plates?" She even acted it out for the sales lady.

"Oh... I know what you are talking about. That's not what we call it, but I could see why you might call it that. You "pass" the cake "over" to someone after cutting the pie - a "passover." "

My friend hadn't realized how bad her southern accent was until that moment! :-)
