The last few weeks have been wetted with a good many of my tears. The sickness of a close friend has made me quite weepy. Pondering the prospect of walking the rest of my journey here on earth without her seems unreal. She has been a mother to me... teaching me how to be a friend, wife, mother and daughter. Modeling for me how to be a Godly grandmother and a patient and loving mother-in-law. She has taught me to study God's Word daily, to pray, to seek always the Kingdom of God.
She has loved me enough to tell me the hard, naked truth about myself... pointing out my sin and calling me to repentance. She has taken joy in me as few people ever have.
If God chooses to take her now, much sooner than I ever expected, what will the rest of my walk be like without her? So many people have been touched by her life.
So there have been tears... and disbelief and anger and fear.
This morning on the beach, reading my morning devotion, drinking a good cup of coffee...and, of course, crying...I read this:
“Some people find it hard to cry. When people cry they have stopped defending themselves, pretending to be master of the situation. When pain forces a man (or woman!) involuntarily to moan or fear stuns a person into a noiseless sob, or when simply being stymied too long slowly wettens one’s eyes, the person has somehow been broken, his weakness shows, he is humbled.” from Space for God, by Don Postema
I feel broken, I feel weakened, I feel humbled. I know I am not the master of this particular situation... nor any other in my life or in the lives of those I love.
James 4:6
But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:
"God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble."
Give me more of Your grace, Lord.
Blessings on this Sabbath day, bloggy friends, and may you too be humbled so as to receive more of His blessed grace.

It seems everything I do lately is a humbling situation. I get knocked down only to stand and get knocked down again. I can't seem to do anything right anymore. I love you. Lynn
