Thrum Thursday

Thrum - \ˈthrəm\- noun - A term for fringe or short lengths of materials which suggest fringe. Specifically, the end of warp which is not woven but remains on the loom when the woven fabric has been cut free.
Thrum Thursday: looking at the "margins" of my life and seeing how to make pretty "fringe" out of it.
Tuesday evening my friend's father, Raynard Newhouse, died of cancer in West Virginia. Ray, and his wife Neeve, came to Southern Pines to stay with Sondie for a couple of weeks after he was diagnosed with lung cancer in March. I had met Ray years ago briefly, but during this last visit, Matt and I had the opportunity to spend more time with him sharing meals and stories. He told me how he met and courted Neeve, how he built sleds as a young man, how he worked for a yatch club as a security guard, how he and Neeve built their home in West Virginia piece by piece as they could afford the materials...It was very sweet time and I'm so thankful that I got to know him better.
I know he's in Heaven now, probably talking to Pearl, Neeve's mother who he never got to meet. I'm sure he's catching her up on their lives together, telling her all about her grandchildren. I imagine he's a young man, strong and happy, full of the joy and wonder of being in Heaven with his Savior.
Thank you, Lord, for the hope that is only in You.
